The northern most bit of Svalbard is a little group of islands.
No one lives here, usually. There is a lone, small, basic trapper’s hut on the island called Phippsoya. But with only walruses on a rocky outcrop and a resident polar bear somewhere, it does not sound that inviting. The nearby Parroya is not much better, but it does have a nice beach.
Apart from a bunch of photos, the group from the ship removed over 100kg of plastic that has been washed up on this remote patch of land in the last year. Everything from bits of fishing nets to takeaway food containers.
Humanity will be the end of humanity at this rate.
